Distribute Content Get Fast Traffic
Among many other factors, quality of your content plays the vital role in search engine ranking & getting epic social media shares.
But, is creating high-quality content enough to drive traffic?
Will it automatically get links and traction?
Sadly, no.
Content is only the beginning. It’s important for your content to reach out people who can derive value from it.
The distribution process involves reaching out to influencers, submitting content on platforms where your target audiences hang out and repurposing your text content into infographics, videos, videographics, audio, etc.
I’ve compiled a list of 30 content distribution platforms that are free (or have a free trial) to sign up. You can use them to promote both your old and new content.
Besides usage tips, I share case studies (where available) of how people have leveraged the platform to drive traffic. Many value-adding tutorials, guides, and videos are also included.

Content Distribution platforms To Amplify your content reach:

YouTube videos have the high probability of getting ranked on first page of Google search results.
Leverage the second biggest search engine on the internet to get found for your target keywords.
Here is how:
Repackage long-form content in the form of slides. Then, create a video tutorial using free screen grab software like Camtasia or CamStudio . Use a good quality microphone to ensure decent production quality.
Or you can use a web camera and record yourself speaking the summary of your post.
Make sure you end the video with a call to action directing viewers to visit your website. Also, add a link to your post in the video description and a link to your blog in the channel description.
Include keywords and write a 250-300 words video description with every video for better visibility in results.
Later on, you can embed this video with your post. You can also reach out to authority blogs in your niche and request them to share it on their blogs.

Reddit is a great social media bookmarking platform (with the upvoting system) to discover content. And it a community known for punishing spammers and promoters.
So:
You cannot simply drop a link in sub-reddits (targeted niche sections) and expect traffic.
First setup a nice looking profile by filling all details. Then, participate in relevant sub-reddits and add value to the discussions. Make sure you speak the language of the Sub-Reddit where you participate.
If your submission gets considerable upvotes, it gets pushed to the hot section and possibly the homepage (if it’s really loved).
Do not submit only your website links, else you can get banned. As per Spencer Haws (from Niche Pursuits) you should only submit one self-promotion submission per 10.

Slideshare is the world’s biggest website for creating presentations. From the distribution perspective, summarize your blog post in the form of slides and upload it on the platform.
Keep the points in your presentation short and the structure of your presentation simple. Don’t forget to write a compelling title and description for your presentation (using long tail keywords will help).
You can include links to your website in your profile and within your presentation. The description and the last slide can also be used for directing viewers to your blog.
After you are done with the presentation, share it on social media and embed it with your blog post.
Further, LinkedIn also allows embedding presentations in your profile. So, adding presentations of the most popular posts in your LinkedIn profile can give some more traction.
As per Shareaholic and Digital Insider studies, Facebook drives 23% of overall visits to websites.
The sad part is the organic reach of publishers on Facebook has been on a continuous decline (even less than 7% for some pages having million fans). Meaning without investing in the advertisements, you won’t be reaching your followers.
But the good news is:
If your content is on niche subjects (like Naruto) and you properly target your audience, then you can get tons of traffic.
Servando Silva from Stream-SEO grew his niche website to 900 visitors in 10 days by investing under 60$ in Facebook Ads. He managed to scale to over 8,500 fans and his posts reached 35% of fans.
The micro-blogging network held the third position in driving traffic as per Shareholic’s 2014 data. It is a great platform for B2B businesses. Leverage it to follow latest industry updates and engage with your clients or followers in real-time.
Tweeting your article link with an enticing introduction, a couple of relevant hashtags at the appropriate time with a good quality picture is a sound Twitter strategy. You should schedule the same article (with different tweet copy) more than once for better visibility.
You can read Brain Honigman 10 actionable and an effective Twitter strategies for achieving significant results. For some more depth, read Loz James personalized Twitter marketing technique that tripled his website traffic.

This is the favorite hanging out platform of professionals and a gold mine to network for B2B companies.
So:
How can you leverage it to drive traffic to your blog posts?
Start with syndicating your existing blog post content. You can make modifications to your posts or publish only parts of your post. At the end of the post, you can give a call to action as a link to the full article on your blog.
You can also repurpose your posts as status updates, search for relevant discussions in LinkedIn groups where posting your articles adds value and post comments on updates in your feed.
Another place to showcase your best blog content is your LinkedIn profile. You can add your links to your best posts, videos, documents and photos with every role description.

Getting a post picked for LinkedIn Pulse is pure gold – you can get hundreds of thousands of views.
This is a moderated and ramped up version of Yahoo Answers. There are many sub-topics and you can attract followers by giving valuable advice on topics that interest you.
You can follow sub-topics of your choice, so that relevant questions appear in your feed. And write different bios for different sub-topics on Quora. What a great opportunity to show your expertise in all the niches you are skilled!
While answering:
Genuinely aim to solve queries of your target audience.
If any of your articles can solve a query, give an introduction of how your post can help and put a link to visit the full article.
If your answer receives upvotes, you get more followers, more exposure and visitors on your website. And it is common for witty and value adding answers in self-improvement niche specially to receive many thousands of upvotes.

Your course can have a mix of video tutorials and text documents. The bare minimum is a 40-minute course.
The courses can be offered free or you can charge anywhere from 10 to 1000$ for it. Participate in Udemy’s course promotions so that you can get more student enrollments.

As per Shareholic, Pinterest was at the second position in driving social traffic in Q4, 2014. It is the best platform for visual digital marketing and pure gold for lifestyle brand content.

Unique and useful content performs well on Pinterest. You should understand that people hangout on the platform to get inspiration and express self. Do not expect from them to create anything original.
Create a board around subjects you like to browse on the internet (not just your brand related boards). Everything you pin can be placed on these boards.
You can share original photos, infographics and photos of products relevant to your industry. Or how-to videos, long form content previews and tutorials you create for YouTube.
When sharing original photos, make sure you add watermarks. Else, you will miss possible viral brand exposure.
Also, make use of hashtags strategically and label them with relevant names (not image 1 and image 2).
You can add URLs to your website or blog post in the brand page and pin description.

Use Pinstamatic for creating sticky notes, quotes and taking website snapshots.

You can syndicate your content with Tumblr and get more traffic, backlinks and shares (possibly, go viral).
For starters, use a clean and simple theme. Use only 7-12 tags, else you will be perceived as a spammer.
Your content should be short and punchy. Impressive visuals, videos and quotes generally perform well. But, don’t be afraid to experiment with posting different kinds of content.
Getting your followers to re-blog your content can earn you good traffic.
Build relationships with Tumblr administrators and try to get introduced through referrals from friends to them. If you end up on the explore page through these administrators, you will get a huge traffic spike.

Create a piece of content on your website that will appeal to the BuzzFeed audience and adds value to them. Listicles work the best.
Promoting your product or services blatantly and using copyright infringing images work against you. Also, keep the linking anchor text simple.
